In 1998, KT took over NTC, a mobile communication operator in Primorsky Krai, Russia, and nurtured and developed it into the No. 1 operator in the region. In 2011, it was sold for $346M, and when including dividends, it totaled about $400M, raising about 18 times the return on investment in the Russian market.
In 2007, by acquiring East Telecom, a wired operator in Uzbekistan, we are solidifying our position as the No. 1 private Uzbekistan telecommunications operator that provides comprehensive telecommunications services such as wired/wireless Internet, leased line, telephone, and VPN throughout Uzbekistan.
In addition, we are currently building Tier-3 data center for the first time in Central Asia and are expanding our business as a Global DIGICO company, including expansion into E-commerce platform business in Uzbekistan.
In 2021, by acquiring Epsilon Telecommunications, a global data specialist in Singapore, we are speeding up the transition to a digital platform company.
Founded in London(2003), Epsilon has more than 260 PoP(Point of Presence)s in 41 cities and 20 countries around the world, and operates three IDCs in London, New York and Singapore.
KT is continuously expanding global DIGICO business based on partnerships and cooperation with global strategic partners and investment strategies tailored to local market characteristics.
KT is not only expanding its field from TELCO to DIGICO, but also continuously expanding its field from domestic to global.
