KT roots for Korean sports.
KT Wiz was launched in 2013 by citizens’ strong desire for the 10th professional baseball team, and Gyeonggi Province, Suwon and KT Group’s strong will with the intention of realizing dream baseball with mysterious and powerful force. With its successful KBO League debut in 2015, the players and management are committed to showing fans magical baseball. The Suwon KT Wiz Park, which was expanded twice, is the most fan-friendly ballpark in the league. It took advantage of KT Group’s excellent ICT technology, i.e., ‘BIC Tainment’ technology, to provide fans with an entertaining array of baseball contents that has become an integrated cultural space where fans of all ages can enjoy baseball comfortably. A host of exciting new marketing activities are planned for its fans, and high caliber players live up to its slogan “A baseball team with the power to delight its fans, gutsy KT Wiz!”
After acquisition of Korea Tender on November 17, 2003, KT Sonic Boom professional basketball team was founded,
declared its CI and debuted in the professional basketball league with the original name of KTF Magic Wings on January 18,
2004. On June 1, 2009, head coach Jeon Chang Jin was recruited after the merger between KT and KTF,
and it was renamed KT Sonic Boom Professional Basketball Team. In the first year after its launch,
i.e., the 2009-10 season, the team upset experts’ expectation that ‘the best it can do is top 6,’
and finished the regular season as the runner-up with an enviable record of 40 wins and 14 losses,
second only to Ulsan Mobis. KT Sonic Boom also finished second to Ulsan Mobis in total points scored.
Home court attendance exceeded 150,000. In September 2010, KT Victorium, the long-cherished state-of-the-art dedicated gymnasium,
was completed, which provided the momentum for stepping up level of play and overall prestige for players and fans.
The 2017-18 season will see the KT Sonic Boom better prepared so fans will be singing “Busan Seagull’
once again with the Busan Sajik Gymnasium packed to capacity.
Since its foundation in 1999, KT Rolster has experienced various events, and firmly established itself as one of the world’s best Professional esports teams. It operated many teams, e.g., Starcraft, League of Legends, FIFA, Counterstrike and Special Force, and won many championships.
Thanks to the support of fans, it made good results, e.g., Starcraft1 09-10 Winners League/regular season/Gwanganri final ‘combined championship’, Lee Young Ho’s “Golden Grand Slam (SCL, MSL and WCG) in 2011, and the 4th Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games League of Legends championship.
Currently, KT Rolster is operating the League of Legends team, and throwing its weight around not only in domestic, but also in international competitions. We will dedicate ourselves to delivering exciting entertainment to our fans.
Most of the players on the KT Shooting Team, founded in 1985, are members of the national team. It is the most prestigious team representing Korean shooting both in name and reality. The team won gold medals not only in domestic competitions, but also in various international competitions including the Olympics, raising the status of Korean shooting.
The team won 4 gold medals and 3 silver medals in the 1990 Beijing Asian Games, and Lee Eun Chul became the first Korean shooter to win a gold medal in shooting in the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Then, Jin Jong Oh, the best shooter in existence, won a gold medal in 50M pistol in three consecutive Olympics for the first time, putting Korean Shooting at the top of the world.
Even today, the KT Shooting Team is fighting a lonely battle with themselves at the firing line with the KT and Korean national flag on their chest, and working hard for a victory and honor.
Founded in 1984, the KT Hockey Team participated in various domestic and overseas competitions, and produced excellent results. In Korea, the team won numerous championships, and maintains its status as the strongest team in Korea, and in international competitions, as key players on the national team, they won the gold medal just 2 years after the foundation of the team in the Seoul Asian Games, and won the gold medal in the Beijing, Hiroshima and Bangkok Asian Games in succession, and played a pivotal role in winning the silver medal in the Seoul and Atlanta Olympics. Especially, in the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, they played a key role in winning the gold medal and staying at the top for 16 consecutive years.
Today the KT Hockey Team practices passing, dribbling and shooting on the green turf under the hot sun, and works hard for the glory of tomorrow with the best performance and teamwork.
The KT Golf Team, which contributed to the development of the golf sports industry, was renamed the BC Card Golf Team in 2014, and the golfers are still contributing to the development of the golf industry.
The BC Card Golf Team sponsors KLPGA TOP Player Kim Hye Yoon, Lee Jung Min pro, Jang Ha Na, going strong in LPGA, rookie Bae So Hyun, and pro Kim Ye Jin with 1 win. The Golf Team will make sure that its players delight their fans and contribute to the development of the golf industry.
KT has been sponsoring the national soccer team for 16 years since 2001, contributed to the development of Korean soccer, and has always been there for Korean soccer in moments of glory. When Korean advanced to the semifinals in the World Cup 2002, which united Korean residents, KT supported the national soccer team, and KT shared the joy with everyone when the national soccer team had the first away win in the 2006 World Cup Germany and made it to the quarterfinals in the 2010 World Cup South Africa, and won the bronze medal in the 2012 London Olympics.
KT is clearly inscribed in the heart of the national soccer team. Also, KT operates the player escort program to give dreams and hope to many children. KT will also be in the hearts of the soccer players on the national team, who are training hard, and the children who escort soccer players onto the soccer field.
With the 2018 World Cup Russia just around the corner, KT will support the Korean national soccer team, and give hope to citizens.
